A positive upshot after Alpiq's first year of operation

Alpiq got off to an excellent start in 2009, as Atel and EOS were successfully merged and established in the market. And considering the difficult financial and economic situation, the massive drop in prices and adverse regulatory factors, the Alpiq Group closed 2009 with satisfactory consolidated results and a positive operating result.

2009 saw the start-up of Alpiq›s Spreetal gas-fired combined cycle power station in Germany as well as the Cleuson-Dixence storage power station and the Monthey gas-fired combined heat and power plant in Switzerland. This was followed in summer by the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Nant de Drance pumped storage power station in the canton of Valais. Two gas-fired combined cycle power stations are currently under construction in San Severo (Italy) and Bayet (France), and another facility of this type is planned in Premnitz (Germany). Alpiq is also stepping up investments in new renewable energies.

"Alpiq is a promise for the future"

Hans E. Schweickardt and Giovanni Leonardi look back on Alpiq's first year: "A strong year with an emotional start and a satisfactory conclusion."
