Alpiq – a promise for the future

Atel and EOS have joined forces to create Alpiq, an energy company with huge potential for the future. For Alpiq, 2009 was an exciting and challenging first year. The fledgling company successfully addressed the effects of the financial and economic crisis and geared up for the partial liberalisation of markets in Switzerland as well as the next steps of liberalisation in Europe.

The challenging market environment did not deter Alpiq from investing in new power stations. New facilities in the canton of Valais and Germany came online in 2009, and construction work was started or progressed on additional facilities in Switzerland, Italy, France and Bulgaria.
