Firmly positioned in Western Europe

Alpiq exceeded its sales and profit expectations in Spain and France, consolidating its position as the most important alternative to established energy suppliers. The Italian market also delivered positive results despite last year›s difficult market environment. By offering services throughout the electricity value chain and with its balanced portfolio strategy, Alpiq Energia Italia is well positioned for further growth. The Nordic market also continued to expand, with the number of large customers rising and the number of household customers remaining stable.

Power generation in Italy experienced its most difficult year since Alpiq began operating its own facilities there. However, construction of the two gas-fired combined cycle power stations in San Severo, Italy, and Bayet, France, is progressing according to plan, and Alpiq is also planning to operate several wind farms in Scandinavia in conjunction with partners.
