The new names were quickly accepted: the Swiss-based Atel Installationstechnik Group was renamed the Alpiq InTec Group and the German-based GAH Group was renamed the Alpiq Anlagentechnik Group. In Switzerland, Building Services and Transport Technology benefited from the high order backlog from 2008. Alpiq EcoServices AG, a specialist in energy efficiency, also performed well. While industrial demand dropped sharply in Italy, positive growth was recorded in Central Europe.
Due to the economic downturn, many infrastructure and construction projects were postponed, especially for power stations. Nevertheless, government incentive schemes and economic stimulus packages are having a direct impact on such capital investments, giving rise to expectations of a rapid recovery. As a result, German-based Alpiq Anlagentechnik has seen signs of stabilisation.
